We x-ray or OFA all or breeding Stock. Ask us about our pedigrees. We will review them with you. We breed only to German Shepherd Dog Club of America Standards. No Whites or Blues! Quality sire and dams are important. If a dog is shy or aggressive, breeding the animal will produce that same product. Dogs always resemble their parents, just as children do. A pair of less than pretty animals with poor temperaments will produce darling puppies who may grow up as poor specimens with ugly temperaments.

Quality medical care is required for dogs and humans. Veterinarians are selected by their abilities and attitudes. A Breeder must have a working relationship with their Veterinarian. Trust is important. Following a plan is part of the plan also. All or our puppies receive a series of three or four vaccinations before going home at 8 weeks. They are also wormed at least two times before 8 weeks. Yes, there is a cost. Yes, it is worth it. Puppies and our adults are extremely important to us. Quality training comes naturally with a German Shepherd.

Many owners report their pet is house broken at 8 weeks when they go home. Our puppies are bred to be lovable and friendly. When they go home the puppy learns fast. We sell many who go on get their American and Canadian obedience titles. Our dogs have the finest diet money can buy. They do not eat steak and people food. They eat good high quality food that you can buy locally and raise your puppy to grow up just like his parents. Most pets are overfed and the 125 pound males are just 75 pound dogs that have been over fed. Hardly a week goes by when the want ads claim 100 pound bitch bred to a massive 130 pound male. A good size bitch is 65 to 75 pounds and a proper size male is 75 to 85 pounds. Overweight is bad in dogs and people.

Glenwood puppies are whelped on our specially designed whelping area with adequate supplies, temperature and supervision. We never leave a bitch to whelp on her own. Someone is always present. We never whelp a litter without a Veterinarian standing by on call. All bitches receive veterinary examination after whelping and any required medication.

All of are bitches are family and valuable to us and their new litter. They need to raise their puppies, recuperate, and return to the show ring.
