About Fleas and
Ticks
We do not allow them!
We know you and your pet do not want them either. We do not
have
a mandatory bath for pets coming in. We will check the pet for
evidence
of fleas, and we will dip or bathe all pets with fleas at the owner's
expense
before going into the runs. For the sake of our customers and our pet
guests,
we will not waive this rule. You may dip your pet at home just before
boarding
if you wish to reduce your boarding expense. We highly recommend
Frontline so your pet does not have to tolerate fleas, and we have no
need
for bathing except for hygiene and grooming purposes.
Requirements for Boarding:
For the safety of all of our guests, we require all pets to be up-to-date with all vaccines. Veterinarian certificates are preferred. If not available, we will call your Veterinarian for verification. Long distance charges are extra. Distemper, Parvo, parainfluenza, Hepatitis, Bordetella, Corona, Adenovirus, and Rabies must be current for all dogs. Cats must have current Rabies, Rhino, Calici, Panleukopenia, Leukemia, Chlamydia, and FIP,
No pets accepted without up-to date Shots!
If you do not have a Veterinarian, you will need to find one. Vaccinations should be given several weeks before boarding your pet for its protection.
A Veterinarian must administer Rabies vaccines!
The kennel may accept geriatric Pets at additional charge. The acceptance and cost is dependent upon care requirements. There are many conditions which must be handled by a Licensed Veterinarian. We encourage you to speak with your Vet about your aging pet.

The Groom Room
We have operated The Groom Room in Hernando County since 1989. We only groom at our kennel these days. Our main business is Boarding and Grooming and we can not be in two places at the same time. We still pick up and deliver for those of customers are shut in and can not come to the shop.
Our special clientele include the famous pekingese on the Milkbone Dog Biscuit Box. We groom Champions as well as other special pets in your life. We groom terriers including rare ones. Yes, we also groom cats and even guinea pigs and rabbits.
We can accommodate the geriatric pets. We also can arrange for grooming the pets for those shut in's who require the best for their pets also.
We love puppies. Our future clientele comes to us many times as a puppy. Young puppies need a special introduction to grooming and require extra time, and we are always happy to groom the youngsters.
Let our professionals pamper your pet as we have since 1981. We require appointments for our grooming customers.
Please call ahead for an appointment for your precious companions. (352) 799-1181
Our quiet and convenient location is 1/2 mile off of US41 just north of County Line Road and South of Spring Hill Drive. Follow US41 to the flashing yellow traffic light in Masaryktown. Turn east on Wilson. The Masaryktown Cafe is on the corner. Some of our customers choose their delicious Cuban Cuisine while they are in the neighborhood. Follow the paved road curving left then right until you see our sign on the right side of the street. If you check your odometer when you turn from US 41, we are exactly. 1/2 mile on the right(South Side) of the street. Drive back to the Kennel at our sign. The Kennel is back 300 ft (Length of football field) from the road.

For many years we have been a source for boarding your pets long term. We board many for military personnel on TDY or for those who are going ahead to find suitable quarters. We offer home like care for your pets for the stressful times when they must be apart from their loving families for great lengths of time.
While we bond with your pets, we are specially trained to not form great bonds with them so you have trouble upon returning. We call it being grandparents to your pet rather than an adopted family to them. We want them to miss you somewhat and make efforts to assure you that they will act the same toward their real family when the time comes. Most kennels offer only a discounted rate as part of their program. If a discounted rate is all you are looking for on a long term, TDY, or Quarantine waiting to be acceptable to other country, then we are not the ones to help you. There is so much more to boarding than rates, we would rather you call others first and call us last.
Veterinary care is important to any boarding facility and Veterinarians surprisingly do poorly on long term boarding. Their professional thrust is medical treatment and send them home. We offer the best Veterinary care by leading professionals in their own offices. Loneliness is as serious for pets as well as their owners. At Glenwood, we believe your pet should receive regular care by the same care giver each day and mealtime should always be at the same time each day. We think your pet should have more exercise than sitting around in an airline kennel except for potty calls. Exercise means running to their own ability several times a day where they can be supervised but not restrained by leash. We offer large fenced paddocks where dogs can be dogs.
Quarantine
for AQIS (Australia for those who don't know) is available. This
is probably the most demanding and frustrating for the owner and the
pet.
Six months is a long time and the Kennel must have medical tests done
at
the appropriate times to assure the pets may be shipped with minimum
time
spent in Quarantine. We know the dates, the requirements, and
where
to have them tested. We are aware of the USDA Veterinary
requirements.
We know the Titer requirements and whose are acceptable. There is
little value of a highly discounted rate if your pet has to stay longer
than six months in quarantine.
Some
airlines are better than others. We recently took a preferred
status
Airline from preferred and moved them to "Last Resort" because of their
new internal policies. Some shippers offer Boarding with their
shipping
service. Be sure to ask them if they Board your pet or if someone
else contracts with them. Perhaps you and your pet will need
their
shipping service but would be better served by Boarding with us.
This is a complicated procedure and none are the same. Please
call
us or email us for a time to call. Its too complex to handle by
email.
Allow about 20 minutes or longer for long distance. Email us at
glenwood@tampabay.rr.com
to arrange for call.
